Good Morning all! I am so happy to have another guest blogger join us here at Design Cocktail and she has a great post for you today! Stay tuned for more of her brilliant ideas. xo -Stephanie
Many people try to give a big make-over to their home during
holidays. It’s almost like a competition between home owners whose house will
be the shiniest, giddiest, most welcoming.
Sometimes holiday decoration crosses the line of good taste, but no one seems
to mind because the over-decoration stimulates feelings of joy and optimism.
But if you look at the beauty of homes that are moderately ornamented, with
subtle lighting, carefully planned decoration, focusing more on
the choice of colours and placement of small details, a
question arises: why not have your home display that holiday look at all times?
Use
lots of “happy” details
One way to adorn your home with “happiness” is to use the similar logic of those who over-decorate for Christmas, but know your boundaries. In example:
Lots of colours, patterns and ornaments on shelves might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but for people who like having a cozy, colourful space, this is one way to do it. Of course, you do need to follow some rules. If you want elaborate, nicely decorated pillows to embellish your sofa, the sofa itself should be plain one-coloured. It is easy to cross the line of good taste, but skillful artists and people who love their home will certainly do a good job. -photo via

Dress up that lazy bedroom
There are times when we’d rather never get up from our wonderful, cozy bed and mattress, but since we have to, it is much nicer to wake up to festive surroundings. Red is the most festive colour and since you don’t want your bedroom to look like a circus, use red wisely to create a festive, yet soothing atmosphere. This is the website for mattresses and memory foams.

If having red walls,
curtains, bedspread and everything else is a bit too much for you, you can use
this as inspiration to create your own holiday bedroom. Make sure the red is
not too aggressive. See how the light coming in through red curtains creates a
soothing visual effect. Go for something similar. Make it boom with positive
energy. -photo via
Wall resolutions
Since wall stickers are becoming more popular each day and are very practical to use – easy to put up, easy to remove – why not have some fun with them?
Many people have a love-hate relationship with New Year’s resolutions: they love making them, but they hate not being able to fulfill them most of the time. However, if we had our resolutions somewhere visible to remind us what we need to do every day, maybe we’d be more successful in what we promise ourselves.
Putting up textual wall stickers that read: “Remember to be happy,” or “Lose that cigarette!” could be a fun after-holiday redecoration activity.

If you are not a fan of words on walls, you can always go
for nice holiday images, like twinkling stars or colourful balloons in your
child’s room. -photo via
